Stuck in LAS. Flight delayed returning to SFO. At least there's free wifi here? One plus.

Getting a little of sick of airports, casinos, etc ... basically anything with tons of people and chaos.

Ready for some quiet time. Ready for hacking.

Oh, and can't wait to adjust to native timezone. So tired.

I have a really interesting David Foster Wallace quote about this very subject that I'm going to post in a few days... about how where we reside determines to a large extent the kind of vacations we want to take. It's pretty insightful.

1) Why do you worry about wifi at all? You seem like someone who would own at least one GPRS/EVDO/EDGE unlimited account.

2) Have you considered private/general aviation? Fewer humans. More interesting technically.

Yeah, I wonder why I don't.

I'm getting my Private Pilot's License. I have about 40 hours and plan to do my FAA check ride sometime in Feb.

Its a lot of fun and I've learned a ton, but it doesn't give you much more freedom than commercial flights. The biggest benefit is being able to fly to airports in the middle of nowhere. As soon as I get my license I'm flying from MYF (San Diego) to AVX (Catalina Island) to go camping.
