I used to love doing embedded Linux work because most embedded processors have a hardware interface that you could connect with a special cable and control the hardware with a debugger on another machine. By comparison, working on x86 systems was always a pain in the ass because you frequently had to guess at what was wrong. It'll be nice to have a similar ability on x86.

Shrug. Proprietary implementation of a notoriously difficult-to-implement protocol. Sounds like a recipe for "doesn't really work all that well, and you can't see the code to fix it" to me.
