Hacking: lot of mogile, djabberd, brackup (now backing up some 40 GB, encrypted, to Amazon... i trust it all now)

Running: up to ~7.5 km, bounded today by running out of downloaded TV, not fatigue. (goal is 12 km for Bay to Breakers)

Scuba: now Nitrox cerified, as of this evening

Travel: Portland this weekend (leaving Friday evening). Lake Shasta soon. Then Russia/Turkey/Germany right after. Visa being processed now.

Motorcycle: trying not to put too many more miles on it before its 600 mile service wednesday (now more like 650 mile)

Gossip rags: me & SixApart all over Valleywag. so honored. also pleased to have my home address, phone number, and social security number made public to the world. guess wednesday night dinners might have more attendees now, eh?

Huh? We don't have any read-only databases. And our databases are already partitioned. We've been doing partitioned databases for like 5+ years....

I take it that the affair/former-wife portion is simply muckraking then.

But on wednesday-night dinners, when I'm around for LWE SF later this year, I did want to whip up a batch of my secret chocolate sauce recipe for you...

Someone posted your social security number? Did you call Equifax, Trans Union, and get them to flag your identity as stolen so no one can open new lines of credit in your name?

Credit freeze

Hey, Brad,

If you're done borrowing money, and/or if you're willing to pay $20 and go through a little bit of hassle if/when you apply for any kind of credit in the future, you can tell the credit reporting agencies to put your account under a "credit freeze" or "credit lock". Basically, it means that creditors can continue to report info (good or bad) to Experian/TransUnion/etc., but the reporting agencies can't give that data out without your advance permission. It's a useful tool for protecting yourself against credit offers and malicious activity.

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Credit_Lock_Down for more info.
