But the paper is, after you get over the initial holy shit factor, way more fun. Apparently various sources are stomped. I will probably regret this, but I'm hard pressed to find a better test whether Verizon's failure to deliver connectivity for longer than 4 hours at a stretch has been corrected with a replacement DSL modem:

Just a few days ago a plugin called Liquid Rescale was released for GIMP based on that paper and demo:

I haven't tried it yet, but I'm impressed with how quickly people can make things like this an (open source) reality.
