Bike to work Friday! [Nov. 9th, 2007|05:43 am]

I just found out this week that a group of people from SF bike to work (to Mountain View, 35 miles away) every Friday, so I'm up at 5:30am to join them, starting at 6am.

It's been awhile since I did a long bike ride... I'm excited.

Update: Survived. Actually 45 miles.

Yes, you don't know who I am and yes, I've been lurking on your journal. :)

I just wanted to say that sounds like a fabulous idea for so many reasons. Exercise, socializing, feeling like you're accomplishing something (I know I would biking 35 miles -- whew!)...sounds very exciting!

Oh, and I'm very sorry to hear about the San Francisco oil spill. I imagine the majority of San Franciscans are REALLY upset about that one, and I would be too. :(

If I was in better shape, I'd bike to work. As I am right now, it'd kill me.

My dad bikes to work on occasion, I think it's only about 10 miles for him.

He typically rides 35-40 miles a day when the weather is warm. I've seen him do 100 miles before, as well.

He wants to bike across the country with a couple friends of his.

They have to or else the office would fill up with used bicycles.

I hate to intrude on your personal journal like this and I'm not sure what your position is in the livejournal community anymore, but I didn't know who to contact exactly, but I've always known that you were one of the top staff from years before. So, I'll get to it, basically there's a huge security hole in livejournal's system, this bug, I'm not sure how it's being done exactly but it DOES exist. A few of my close friends have already lost their personal livejournal accounts because using this BUG the attacker is able to reset ANY password to ANY livejournal account. I conclude this because a few of my friends passwords are nearly impossible to crack, thus, it must be using some kind of security hole. I'm actually worried that I'll lose my livejournal account that I've had for years now. What the attackers also do when they steal someone's account, they use RENAME tokens so the real user cannot get their account back, unless, I'm hoping, if they contact livejournal in direct for support, I would think all previous information would be backed up. I know for sure these users have been attacked; moron.livejournal.com, amy.livejournal.com, heartless.livejournal.com, I'm not sure if they all got their livejournals back, but I'm sure this is being done to a lot of other users as well. I wanted to give you, or the security team a heads up on this, if you would be kind enough to follow up with this or point me to the right direction, perhaps the security team, It'd be greatly appreciated for someone who's loved and used livejournal for years. I'd also be happy to speak to any security members, along with a friend of mine who we both are trying to figure out how this bug is done so it can be fixed immediately, thanks for your time, please get back at me.

Can you point me into the right direction in hopes of helping a hobby/service that you practically founded? Or at least let friends(if any) know whom still do work for livejournal, just so they're aware. I'm sure you do care still but is out of your power/job to do so, thought I'd ask, but thanks anyway.

I am impressed.
A few weeks back I attempted 100km (62miles) for Around the Bay. I had to pull out after 81km. 95 degree temperature and a hot headwind got the better of me - and that took me just over 6 hours!

What kind of bike do you ride? Road bike? Mountain bike?

Trek 7700FX. Not quite a road bike, but close. I think it's closer to a road bike than a "hybrid" is.
