Hush.
I'm just sad I had to replace my ricroll placeholder.
Google put the kibosh on the Rickroll!?!

Apparently they wanted an actually informative video. I know, crazy.
If there's anything more informative than Rickroll I don't know what it is.
Second.
Totally envisioning a "Video Professor Brad" series that calls people dumbshits for not being able to figure out MSWord.
Third.. but come on.. that aspect ratio is waaay out... I hate that!
+1 on fucked up aspect ratio.
What that video needs is a sport's coat.
Also, nice Troy McClure reference.
And he didn't even crack a smile when he did it.
The best part was when I followed the link to your youtube profile. How dare you pose as Ashley Tisdale.

Awesome! I just spent 3 minutes with curl and I know what I'm going to waste my afternoon playing with :)
Are you using the main Google web index for this?

Yup.
"...and now I have friends and I'm happy."
Very cool!
Two questions.
- The unverified nodes; given that I have a weblog with an OpenID delegating to LiveJournal and some other link tags already (but no XFN or FOAF), what's the easiest way for me to verify me-related pages that are currently unverified?
- What's the best way to tell the crawler that a group of people that have profiles on a mostly private website are related? E.g. is there an easy way to link my fraternity all together (so they are quickly found on social networking sites) using mbox-shasums? (Without requiring them to setup OpenID's, which would arguably be better, and while most of them probably don't have a homepage?)

Aw man. I wish I hadn't just butchered all of the relationship links on my personal site the other day when I was setting up Movable Type.

Is anything using this stuff yet?
(Similarly, I've yet to stumble across any site that wanted me to log in but would let me use my LJ OpenID. I gather they exist, but I haven't intersected with any of them.)

We should have a whiteboarding session sometime.
this is great! this can finally make us open our users' profiles
I already commented on the Google blog, but I just wanted to give you kudos here too. One of the sites I write for now (Download Squad) has a large social web focus and all of us think that this is very, very cool. Congrats!
congrats on the great work. I can't wait to put this into production at work. :) |
