Scribble on your Selfcentric blog?

Don't get me all wrong Brad. We all have boring lives we heroically try to spirit up by doing lots of different "fun" stuff, but we don't all water out our blogs unconditionally. I, as many others I would assume, added your blog to our RSS reader because of your role as a innovative "Future of the web" thinker and contributor. But unfortunately I have ended up wasting my time screening and deleting (to me) right out meaningless and boring tweets. As an individual person your are a one-in-a-million and can only compete for attention amongst your real life friends(trust me on this one). As an innovator in the web-sphere you are still very interesting, however perhaps loosing ground. My suggestion would be to take a stand whether your blog should contain personal tweets or not. IMHO you should be prepared to loose your academic and like-minded followers if your path is the "personal" one. Good luck, sincerely. I'd like to hear your response, but I wonder if my entry will be screened. Best Regards, a fellow innovator. :-)

Re: Scribble on your Selfcentric blog?

I guess this answers the question of "should one have many topic-centric blogs, or should feed readers be smart enough to respect tags?"

I love that I'm losing innovator status because tweets are on my blog, though! :)

Re: Scribble on your Selfcentric blog?

I'm sort of impressed with your response (not that you care since you have no clue who I am).

...On the other hand, I hate those stupid Tweets and have been tempted to remove everyone on my list who posts them. I don't do it, because I'd lose like half of my LJ-friends.

Re: Scribble on your Selfcentric blog?

Yeah man... when you first started this blogging shit your posts totally changed the world... You should be ashamed at what you've become.

"I got so much homework ... and college applications ... and chores. What a pain. *sigh* What does this mean to you, the bradfitz.com visitor? It means dat I ain't gettin' nuttin' done on this website today, at least till late... :("

Re: Scribble on your Selfcentric blog?

Your answer is dead-on, Brad, even if it's sort of in jest. The answer, is "yes, both." I also want my reader and friends page to better filter the pages coming in for multi-topic blogs.

Funnily enough, I'm un-friending people at twitter, because I prefer to see their aggregated daily tweets posted by LoudTwitter at LJ. Some people just tweet too many times a day.

Oh, I second, "spelunking."

Sea kayaking - my personal fav.

If you get adventurous, go visit the sinkhole beach right by the old graveyard at Little River, a few miles South of Fort Bragg (California). The sinkhole was formed by a tunnel that connects the beach to the ocean - said ocean sucked all the dirt out through said tunnel over time.

Scope it & GPS it by land, then approach from sea after launching from the beach about 1/2mi North. The trick is to identify which is the tunnel (that goes all the way through to the sinkhole beach) amidst all of the little pockmarks that vaguely resemble the tunnel from a few dozen meters away. Bonus points for not getting too close and smashing yourself on the rocks in the process.

I did this (without smashing on the rocks) a few years ago - FUCKING AWESOME. I'm itching to get out and do it again.

Take a plastic boat, though - no point in dinging up a fancy fibreglass boat.
