Losing Stuff [Nov. 9th, 2008|04:02 pm]
Brad Fitzpatrick
I'm useless lately...

Left my iPhone in Moscow in late September.
Lost my laptop (left it in a restaurant) the other night.
Lost/dropped my sunglasses (somewhere in Cycle Gear?) just earlier today.

The iPhone came back the other day but I have little hope for the laptop and sunglasses. *sigh*

Have you considered buying a truck so that you could lose it?

You may just have a career in country music ahead of you.

It would sort of be like nerdcore, but instead "nerdtry". The blend of geek plus country music's common story of "losing stuff".

Do you know what restaurant you left your laptop in? It's been my experience that if you leave things in restaurants it's usually the staff that find them, not other customers. And even if another customer finds it, usually the sort of people who eat in nice restaurants are the sort of people who hand in stuff they've found. Either way, the restaurant might well have it to give back to you if you contact them quickly.

It was the opposite of a nice restaurant. The staff was helpful (even letting missing/reward signs to be hung up) but I'm not sure the patrons would be so nice. Actually, the staff said he thought he saw several high-school kids walking out with it.

I didn't think that your iPhone would come back to you, considering that ppl here are obsessed with illegal and/or cracked iPhones %) first iPhones appeared in Russia several months before official sales :)))
