| Realtime LiveJournal -> Buzz |

If you've seen all my "test" posts over the past few days, you probably knew I was up to something.
Indeed....
If you add your LiveJournal to your Google Profile (and your LJ links to your Google Profile and is crawled), and then you "Connect" your LJ to your Google Buzz account by adding it as a connected site, all your LJ posts flow into Buzz in 1-2 seconds, using PubSubHubbub.
And hopefully LiveJournal will support the Salmon Protocol so comments left in Buzz will flow back to LiveJournal, and vice-versa. But that's the future.
Much love to Brett Slatkin, the Reader team, Brian Stoler and the Buzz team, Sebastian Kanthak, John Panzer, and others who made all this work. Huge team effort, but in the end I think open, decentralized protocols will win and are the future. |

Whoever came up with the name "PubSubHubbub" deserves a medal.
I wonder how they could keep a straight face the first time they suggested it to somebody!
My LJ is in my google profile... how do I make LJ link to my google profile?
... and so, here I am, waiting for whatever prerequisite crawling, etc. happens, if I've even "connected" my accounts correctly (that's a really vague word) ... curious to see what the effect will be.

We have a little app to let you force an immediate recrawl of one of your profile links to get their new SGAPI links, but we're making it pretty right now before we announce it.... hold tight. :)
Interesting, and very well done by all!
I can't work out how to get a rel="me" out of livejournal. :(
Okay, I worked it out. I *think* that LJ does a rel="me" to the website I specify, since when I added rel="me" to my private website, SGAPI suddenly decided it was all verified.
I tried setting my homepage to my google profile page, failed to make a connection. :/
Did you wait for a recrawl?
Works like a charm, thanks! | |
