I think I would get much more done if I worked on one thing until I finished it instead of changing tasks every half hour. :-/

I do the same thing.
I think it's important to be interested in what you're working on. If you're forced to do it, then you won't be as careful.

I currently switch between Napster, Pharaoh (a game), LoserJabber, dieb, and email every few minutes...

yeah, suppose that's true. that's one of the arguments that Free software is better than commercial stuff --- because the hackers working on it want to be working on it.
