per somebody's advice a few weeks ago (sorry-- forgot who), i did a bunch of sit-ups to help my back .... it was surprisingly effective: my back feels great now. i'd do sit-ups more often but my problem has always been where to stick my feet to hold them down. today I had the advantage of having all my boxes packed, so I stuck my feet under those with a blanket on top.

working on LJ some more, then going to bed early I hope.
