Grrr [Sep. 5th, 2000|06:23 pm]
Brad Fitzpatrick
I hate the damn computer lab. And do you know what I hate even more? Groups of five or six people sitting around talking really loud instead of working ... and do you know what I hate even more? That they're talking in Chinese and I can't understand it.

GRRRRR!! I'm about ready to rip somebody's head off. No Internet access at my house, and I have to put up with this crap here in the lab. Windows 2000 blows (I want my Linux box!), the printers blow, the keyboards blow, the monitors are small and covered in fingerprints, and I'm cold. I need to bring my headphones and CDs tomorrow so I can block out the talkers.

Damnit damnit damnit .... even if I owned a modem at home, I'd still need a phone line in the basement and I'd have to recompile my kernel at setup IP Masq on my Linux box. Maybe I'll work on that.

I know how you feel

I HATE that! What is worse is when you have to ask them if they keep it down because you are working and they rattle off to each other and then you know they are talking about you. GRRRR...

Re: I know how you feel

I recommend you write a letter to the governor and ask if they could build some more railroads.. that way we can put those Chinese kids to work and the computer lab will be quiet. Yes.. railroads is the answer.

Hey now, don't be player hatin'! Learn Portugese and piss them off by talking even louder. It's a war of attrition!

I had the same thing when I was at school.. Except it wasn't talking it was stinky hippies that camped out RIGHT NEXT to me.

I had one that took off his shoes and started picking at his feet while he was at the computer. He was also picking at his beard.

Damn i'm glad to be out of there.

Talking of Linux...

This is a message to ANYONE - not just Brad. :-)

I am teaching myself Linux (RedHat 6.2 to be exact) and I am not doing a good job. Hell, I can't even change the screen resolution!

Anyone out there know of a good website I can use to teach myself? I am very good on Windows but I just want to expand my skills.

I love IP Masquerade... I thought it was built in though? Guess that's just Mandrake.

welcome to my hell

You just described EXACTLY what I've been doing the past few days. Only the guys were Indian. And they also didn't speak english, just stood in a circle next to my workstation talking loudly.
Oh I can't wait until I can get down to SNET and get my phone line activated. Stupid must-show-ID policy. I am a poor college student without a car.
And... and... Okay I'll shut up, this was supposed to be a quick "i agree" comment but it turned to a rant. :)
*goes to update her journal with this rant*
