Bazillion... twice the speed of Qwest for half the price. Problem is --- they rely on Qwest to hook the loop up at the central office, so there's still a big wait. I guess I'll keep both orders pending and see who hooks up first. I'd really rather go with bazillion, but at the same time I want it now (hell, I wanted it Sept. 1st when I was told I could get it.) Qwest is planning on setting up the loop for their ISP service on the 20th, but their ISP department has no record of us having an account. Damn morons.Signed up for |
Keep a sharp eye on them, and don't be afraid to get in their face when you're talking to them. Competence is in short supply, so be prepared to do some of the troubleshooting before you call them.
I can see if i can get it expedited through bazzilion : )

Problem is (according to Brad): QWest has to setup "the loop" for Covad, and since a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link, it'll take just as long because QWest will be just as slow, whether it be setting up the loop for Covad, or setting up the service through their own ISP.
This isn't meant to deter you in any way.. I love having an "in" with companies, so go to town and make them set it up. I'm just telling you that they might hit a brick wall when they talk to QWest.
Little tip if you've never done customer service: If you complain enough, take it high enough, and make yourself sound important enough, then you can basically get anything.
Call them up and tell them that you want to talk to their supervisor, and tell their supervisor that you're the webmaster and administrator for two major websites and you need your service now. If he gives you the run around, ask him for his boss's number, etc.
Generally complaining at the lowly tech. support or customer service drones won't get you anywhere as there's nothing they can do about it. They just put your information into their computer and it magically gets taken care of.. eventually.
You might become that asshole customer that everybody loves to hate, but those people always get what they want. (Well, almost always) I've worked two retail customer service type jobs and one tech. support job.. Whiney/asshole/important customers always have priority.
