Called US West... waited on hold for 35 minutes and finally talked to somebody seemingly competent.... nobody in the 4 different departments I've talked to has access to the complete US West database. in other words, nobody can really be helpful when it comes to fixing a problem that probably spans so many different areas, like ours does. Their tech support system is just terrible... the guy today told me how to "beat the system" and get helped better-- he was pretty cool. He told me the times to call in when you can actually get ahold of people, different menu options to press to shortcut to the right department, what to say to operators to get them to transfer you to departments you couldn't otherwise reach... as cool as this all is, it doesn't make up for the fact that we still have broken DSL ... it's not like we don't have it (like Nick or Roper), it's that we had it for 2-3 weeks and it was great, then they moronically let another company disconnect us and can't figure out now how to hook it back up. If I could find the idiot responsible for setting up their system I would seriously beat the living crap out of them. I have so much anger and aggression built up, hell, I could probably hospitalize their entire IT department.
Faith told me Speakeasy is looking for people with Unix, Web, and Database experience. Maybe I should get a job there and do my part in making at least one largish company not suck so much. But do I have time? Probably not. I do kinda want a job, though. Hrrm.
Don't know what I'm going to do now. Don't feel like doing a damn thing. Maybe I'll take a nap and listen to music.
