sad, for many reasons.

everyone learns english cuz it's an important language to learn...they learn our language and it REALLY helps. what about us? what language do we need to learn? which do we choose? we already speak the important language...why should we have to learn to speak another one?

Everybody learns English cause that's all the radio is playing and all the movies are in. Americans don't really know many other languages because we don't have much use for them or anyone to practice it on. In SoCal, a lot of people speak Spanish as well, but that's because it's more usefull there. In Europe, people are good at English because they have to be to communicate with the rest of the world, and most of the tourists. Plus, they use it more, so it is easier for them to pick it up.

2 cents..

Ya, while I was in Santorini, an island 10hrs south of Greece, I listened in on an Italian dude, a Russian dude and a Greek dude all using English as a translation language......Did you know in Germany it is a requirement though schooling (before college) to take 3 English courses?
