cleaning inbox again

new evolution: 0.8! helix-updating right now. i stopped building from CVS last week .... takes too much of my time. and I get my hopes up too much. I tell myself now that I'll wait for releases... no more buggy CVS versions a few times a day.

mike and hofer went running ... i could've gone I suppose, but then I'll just get sick again (it seems to have gone away since this morning). think they're going to come over and play pool later.

evolution 0.8

When did they add that to helix-update? Sweetness. :) Can't wait to try that out.

So how were the old versions? Do you use that as your client or just play with it?

Re: evolution 0.8

I use it for stretches of 10-15 minutes at a time, until I get pissed off at it and go back to Outlook Express or pine.

I use IMAP, so I have the luxury of being able to switch back and forth between: outlook express, web-based mail (prometheus), evolution, mozilla, pine, etc....

Re: evolution 0.8

*nods* Sounds like me and mozilla 6 months ago. ;)

I have an IMAP server running, but I have to admit I never use it. I just ssh in and use pine, habit I guess.

So how is IMAP under pine? It looked kinda... ugly when they first added it, and I haven't looked at it again since then. Does it support all of IMAP's features well?

Re: evolution 0.8

pine is like the ultimate IMAP client....

pine's made by UW, the same people that defined IMAP initially.

Re: evolution 0.8

Yeah I know, I use the UW imapd, it just seemed like they were a bit hokey in their implementation for some reason. I dunno... I guess I'll have to check it out now. :)

Re: evolution 0.8

Is prometheus a webmail service or an app? Could I get an IMAP account with the livejournal email I have? Can you point me at an FAQ about IMAP so I don't have to bore you with stoopid questions?

Thanks...

Re: evolution 0.8

prometheus is a webmail program that interfaces to an IMAP account.

IMAP isn't offered with LiveJournal ... only aliases.

Re: evolution 0.8

Speaking of Prometheus, are you gonna hook me up with an account? :-P

Re: evolution 0.8

It's buggy ... I gave up on it.

I submitted a bunch of bug reports to the author --- maybe he'll fix it all, or I'll switch to an alternative.
