awake, damnit. [Dec. 17th, 2000|01:36 am]
Brad Fitzpatrick
I just woke up, thinking it was morning after only 4 hours of sleep. Damnit.

Upon getting to my computers, both my Linux and Windows machines were reset... sitting at their login screens. Cartman and Kenny have uptimes of exactly 2:55 each... looks like the power went out about 3 hours ago, or about the time I went to bed.

That, or somebody's in the house and reset them.

My cough is back. Stupid sickness.

Why can't I sleep?? I fell right asleep earlier.... why couldn't I stay sleeping? Grrrrr.

my sleep isn't so good either, but has improved quite a bit since i started on no caffiene and taking st. john's wort. i know it's available there(wort), but in really low doses. i'm taking 300mg a day and it's really helped.

I love how well drugs work, but I hate taking them. :-/

the drugs don't work

i'm very anti-drug as well. st. john's wort is a european herb called 'hypericum perforatum'. Absolutely no drugs or chemicals at all in it. It's been very popular in europe for several years already. originally it was used as an herbal alternative to anti-depressants, but they've found that it has a whole host of other benefits...quality of sleeping included, which is why i decided to give it a go, and i must say that it's really helped.

we live rather 'hard' here and about 6 weeks ago i decided to try to get myself into better condition(it's the almost 30 years old thing...makes you do weird things). i've cut out all caffiene(no more vodka/cola light...:( ), started the st. john's wort and evening primrose oil, and i drink loads of yerba mate. i'm very strict on my no chemical policy...i won't even take aspirin or cold tablets. i've never felt better in my life. no more hangovers, sleeping 5 or 6 solid hours a night(rather than the 10 hours in bed of sleeping an hour at a time), and in general i just feel very alive.

do i sound like an advert for better health or what? ;) i know it sounds kind of new age weird, but it really does work well. the problem in russia is that we don't believe in this kind of thing. we believe everything is cured with vodka and antibiotics.

sorry to hear about your sleeping. i know the feeling well. i've been sleeping so well since i started this routine that i'm just waiting for it all to fall apart. do you have problems falling asleep or staying asleep? mine's the latter.

Re: ps...

Just direct people here:

How can I buy a paid account for somebody else?

Usually I can't fall asleep, but when I do I sleep a long time. Lately I can fall asleep, but I wake up in two hours.

Re: ps...

then it shall be done. :)

i've had both. insomnia and then the waking up problem. lavender by your bed helps(i sound so new age now it's scary) to keep you staying asleep. i'm not sure which is worse though. too bad we're not in closer time zones...could bore each other to sleep.

what do you usually do when you can't sleep? (besides the obvious livejournal at present)

Re: ps...

I really can't say. I own over 200 movies on DVD, but even out of those I can't pick my favorites.... it really depends on my mood.

I generally like comedies.... Baseketball, So I Married An Axe Murderer, ...

Re: ps...

i have a dvd player in my notebook computer, but i've not bothered to buy any dvds. probably because i'm too lazy to go out and find where they sell them, and because they are very expensive. i could get them on pirate, but i can't be bothered. and of course, if i have someone buy them in america, they won't work here. we're rather behind when it comes to that. in fact, i'm having cable television installed for the first time in my life this week, and i'm not even sure why i'm doing it. i haven't turned my television on since the ostankino fire knocked all the channels out a couple months ago.

comedies are good...i can watch 'what about bob?' over and over again and will run around reciting lines until people want to slap me about the head. at present i'm stuck on 'reefer madness'.

Re: ps...

You know, most people don't think Baseketball is all that funny.

How very wrong they are. I think I'll go rent it.
