fun with coughing [Dec. 18th, 2000|07:46 am]
Brad Fitzpatrick
i've been coughing up some very interesting pieces of "stuff" lately. i'm not sure what this stuff is... it's like grayish boogery chunks. is it concentrated germ? i always feel better after I get rid of them... smoother breathing and less coughing. they're almost kinda cool. i mean, how many times in the year do you get to cough up grayish boogery chunks, huh?

It's phlegm, and you're dehydrated.

See, phlegm is mucus, and so are boogers. Boogers are just mucus that has dried ( after picking up miniscule dust particles, tiny organisms, etc.)

If you're getting enough liquids, you cough up mucus when you're congested, right? But if you're not getting enough fluids, the mucus all dries up, and you cough up those weird booger-esque lumpy chunks.

(I know way more about this than I should. Depressing.)

So drink some water!

Grayish boogery chunks

I get them. They're kind of like oval shapes for me. Make me retch.

is that why you always have a nose full of burgers when you wake up after a night of drinking?

It sounds incredibly disgusting to me, but Reggie (guy that lived across the street this summer) said that pickle juice always made his coughs go away. ::shrug::

So would a bullet to my head, but that doesn't sound like a good solution.

Symptoms of pneumonia = fever, cold sweat, coughing, sneezing, aching, general flu-like symptoms, difficulty in breathing even wheezing, and coughing up mucus chunks ranging from gray to weird green to brown. Brown is bad, means it is likely infected. Fever is also bad, if you keep feeling sick and coughing shit up, go get some antibiotics. The doctor has spoken.
