cache-control [Dec. 19th, 2000|05:22 pm]
Brad Fitzpatrick
Finally read all the details on the HTTP/1.1 Cache-Control directive.
I'm setting Cache-Control: private on all responses now so transparent caching proxies don't send the wrong page to the wrong user, like Microsoft and AOL have been doing (which I know isn't their fault, I guess.)

Don't forget

Don't forget to set this on pages which have friends only or private entries as well.

Helpful Caching URLs:
Cacheability Query
Cacheing tutorial

And then don't overlook installing the squidclient debian package.

And lastly correctly impliment IMS on pages which can be cached which are generated by scripts. Using those things I reduced the overall bandwidth usage of TheOneRing.net by over 25%.
