Your Sleep Problems

Have you ever considered taking a herbal remedy called Melatonin for your sleep problems ? They are all natural , you awake refreshed and absolutely no side affects...

Re: Your Sleep Problems

Then you know that it works well - I beleive you do not take it because you know the affect and you set yourself up like this so you do get work done in Livejournal.. I think you need to relax more ! and quit being such a workaholic

Long boring post on drugs...and other witty phrases by Dak...

Not to be an ass about it, but Melatonin is *not* herbal, it's a hormone. Melatonin, is a hormone produced by the pineal gland after exposure to light. It works well for treating sleep cycle problems, re-syncing the body clock to day night intervals, jet lag, etc.

If the insomnia has another cause, it most likely won't work. Or should be used in conjunction with other remedies.

While it's widely available to self medicate, I believe it is mainly used to treat blind folks who suffer from severe insomnia due to the lack of melatonin production. (A very serious problem for blind people, the #2 complaint, after the obvious one of not being able to see.)

Another method of treatment is to BOOST your own bodily production of melatonin, but then you would have to put those silly lights behind your knees for an hour! (A strange place, huh, who knows who figured that out, but that is how they treat some cases in a sleep disorder clinic, and it increases melatonin in the body. Who knew???)

As a side note to our PETA friends, "Vegetable-tarians" and other people that think LIQUID CHICKENS are yukky, most melatonin is derived from Animal pineal glands, which means by taking it you run the risk of consuming another animals junk. (Serious cross genus virus potent here, but no one is listening, until their cows go mad or their brains go spongy, which ever comes first. But then it's too late isn't it???)

There *is* a synthetic form, it's the one that costs twice as much, ever wonder why that is....ask yourself..."What's the big diff???" Well, now you know....

peace and happy sleeping...
