those are the cool ones that turn off when they start to tilt, right? those are really cool. are the forever broken, or is just the light blub breaking?

See, there's this thing, it's called a light bulb.. sometimes they burn out and you must replace them. :-) Same thing happened to one of mine. Let's go to Eagle.

yeah, but these types of lights are supposed to last a damn long time.... tons longer than conventional light bulbs I thought

I bought my halogen before moving into Steven's Court last year, and the same bulb burnt out a few weeks ago.

Yeah, I can't figure out the life-expectancy of those bulbs yet... of the two in the living room, one is still going strong and the other burnt out months ago. In my room it's the same way. I have no idea why..

Light bulbs & a certain party

I lived out in New Jersey for about 7 years, 5 of them in one place although some time was spent at college. Had this one light bulb in my bedroom that lasted at least as long as I was there, probably before that, and it's probably still there to this day.

Hope you guys are having a good party up there. Would've come if I could've, but I'm way down in the San Francisco Bay Area. Visited a couple friends in Seattle for Thanksgiving, though. Nice place. Thinking of possibly moving there someday.

I've got a Budweiser Neonlight :-) I don't know how old it is, but it must be working for years now.

Check the angle you've been holding them at. If you exceed, I believe, 8 tilt they either auto-shut off the light or some even break maybe. I have one of those lamps too in my living room that is mysteriously not working. If I figure out what broke, maybe I can take a look at those lights.

Naah, there's a big metal cage around the bulb... I couldn't even touch it if I wanted to.

Our house has tons of dust in it, though ... could dust be settling on the bulb and killing it?

Re: tons of dust

That's possible. The dust may also be settling in your lungs, contributing to that cough. I bought a LifeTech from IndoorPurifiers.com about a month ago, and have been very satisfied with the results. You might want to consider one of these; they really do work. (Tell 'em I sent you! :-)

Cause Manufacturers are Dumb

I think it's not uncommon that halogen lamps are shipped with bulbs that tend to blow out really quickly because they're too bright for the lamp. My friend used to work in a lamp store, and she always suggested people buy a lower wattage (or whatever measurement halogens are on) bulb if they seemed to be burning out too quickly. That usually solved the problem.
