back from running (back awhile ago, actually).

learning vi, using some handle quick references. i absolutely love how you can proceed a command with a number to do it multiple times. as far as I know, emacs can't do that so easily. and I love how intuitive the editing commands are... 0 for beginning, $ for end of line (which makes sense if you know regular expressions), and then d0 and d$ delete to beginning of line and end of line... so damn cool.

vi is a good editor. Very helpful feature is ability to jump from an open brace to the corresponding close brace.

BTW, The stroke to do brace matching (while in command mode) is the % key.

vi is like a total onion, you constantly discover cooler features like named registers, they are way cool... Think of it as a way to keep multiple "clipboard" entries and access them based on the name (character) you store them in...

vim is a good vi clone, with additional features (which can be turned off), and its help is very useful to beginners.
