stupid 34 cents [Jan. 25th, 2001|12:29 pm]
Brad Fitzpatrick
i don't have any of those stupid 1 cent stamps, so I'm just using two 33 cent stamps. go me. i wonder if they reject mail from people if they only use 33 cents, not knowing or not caring it went up to 34 cents? i should include a post-it note on my letters saying, "Dear Postmaster, please allow 32 other messages that are below postage to go through, since I'm paying for them with this extra fucking 33 cent stamp. Thank you."

I wish they'd just bump the price up to 50 cents per letter now, and not raise the price again for a decade or so.

Heck, at the rate they're going, expect that next year. This 1 cp stamp bullshit drives me NUTS.

I've been doing that with my 32 cent stamps ever since they raised the damn rate to 33 cents, b/c I had so damn many of the 32 cent stamps. -_-; Oh well, at least they were free.

Just tape a penny on the letter...they have to take it by law and it really pisses off the postman. kind of a sick way to get back at the postal service

You must be kidding? I've actually wanted to do that, but doubted they'd even take it.

Re:

No yeah...they have to take it. I used to date a guy that worked at the post office and he said they are required to.

Can I tape 34 cents to the letter and never have to buy stamps again?

Re:

You know...yes you can, but I think that you will have serious issues with you mailperson if you do that...I would say that if you are going to do that...drop them in a postal box and never put a return address

In the UK they no longer put a value on the postage stamp for a normal letter...we have 2 classes of letter post 1st and 2nd, and thats all it says on the stamp, if the postage rate gos up you can still use the stamps no problem !!

Re: DUDE!

But the USPS won't make a fortune off of that. So therefore, it won't fly with them. :)

I ordered the Tool Salival box set from Amazon the other day, and when it arrived today I noticed that Amazon threw 10 1-cent stamps into the box as a 'thank you', because "Even though it is only 10-cents, we hope that the trouble it saves you is worth alot more"...

I thought that was way-cool

they'll take em at 33 for a while, but not forever- I wouldnt send anything critical at 33 though- might get some cranky ppl to send it back- adn if your return addy is weak, then you're SOL.

-he who hasnt had to mail a damn thing in over 5 years.. nor pay for shipping.. WOOOP :)

I once got a letter that was 3 cents short and the postman included an envelope in my mail box for me to put in 3 pennies to make up for the missed postage....

Me too!!!

Hey that happened to me, too! And it wasn't even a personal letter or anything like that. It was letter to me from Columbia House... a friggin' business... and *I* had to pay for it! I never did, though. I guess I owe the USPS 3 cents. But to hell with them. Brad's extra stamp can pay for it!

Ever think about taping a penny to the envelope? Most carriers accept them.
