6.2 magnitute.... (now they say 7.0). epicenter just south of center

earthquake damage: our house is fucking trashed! (oh wait... it's always been like that)

heh, after I typed that last entry I ran outside in my boxers and watched it happen.... cars were moving all over the place, alarms were going off, power lines were bouncing, fun stuff!

heh--- I wonder if Suzallo library crumpled or not. :-)

I want aftershocks!

nope, I was standing outside of it during most of the earthquake...the construction workers were like..."GET OUT OF THAT BUIDING YO!"
"FUCK YEA I'm getting out! I don't really feel safe in there since we are trying to make it earthquake-proof."

Just heard about it while I was out getting lunch... rushed back to my desk to find out what the details were.

Glad you (and all those new servers) are ok. I was kinda worried there for a sec...

I've been through two earthquakes that size and bigger before. My advice to you is that you should sit out in front of your house, drink lots of beer, and talk to friends and neighbors. Worked for me last time...

No earthquakes in merry old England. It would certainly make my LJ more interesting if there were one, but I think I prefer the ground to be stable anyway.

What a ride... ... .. ..... okay, I want my money back!

Eastside didn't get hit too hard.

Just a few pictures knocked over.

I'm kinda disappointed. That wasn't nearly as exciting as I had hoped for. :(

7.0 now but we got ripped in Portland cuz it was only like a 4.something down here. Scared my dog plenty.

I've had enough of the damn news coverage telling us where Bill Gates was during the shaking.

got to 4.7 down here.

and ditto on your second point and on the news coverage in general. apparently they dont have anything better to do than repeat the same words in the same order, showing the same pictures, over and over and over. (namely KGW.)

LOL yup I think KGW were the ones nice enough to break away for the nightly news - letting me think I would see news beyond the quake, only to show the earthquake coverage then break back in with the same old same old local coverage! Bastards!

I think I'm pathetic. Someone here at my office asked me to hop online to find out about the earthquake because they were too lazy to go online themselves. Instead of going to CNN or msnbc or some other reknowned news service, i pull up Brad's journal to see what happened. I feel really pathetic right about now....

Oh yeah, and glad to hear you're ok too Brad. =)

I'm glad to hear all the LJers are okay, I hope all of the families of them are too. Our news was just showing footage, didn't look good. I also heard they are saying its a 7.0 now. WOW!

Re: Was it as bad as they showed it to be?

I was watching the news when they said 6.2 then they said 7.0 then they said 6.8.

How the hell do they change it? I mean its not like another one came by?

Just to tell you , I did not put a SUBJECT line on the post I am posting too. Maybe a bug?
How ever I did put that subject line here about 9hours ago.

Re: Was it as bad as they showed it to be?

bizarre.

not sure how that could happen.... you using mozilla's "wallet" feature or something, trying to auto-complete everything for you?

Thank you!

Merci beaucoup, Bradfitz, whoever you are. I was reading Will Hudson's friends' journal entries last night and saw this one. It amused me. But then in French today, we had to write about a picture of a house that had been in an earthquake and write about the earthquake from our own perspective. Instead of the standard doom-and-destruction, this is so horrible point of view, I was inspired to write from the perspective of a happy-go-lucky youth who thought it was cool. :-)
