erik made me food.... pancakes and french fries. mmm... and eli gave me bread earlier, and i ate a bunch of ice. gourmet dinner tonight!|
now i'm helping both chuck and marcuso with basic unix stuff (chuck more basic than marcus). i'm trying to remember all the people i've taught unix stuff to... whitaker, some to blythe (she's the pine and pico master, btw...), erik some awhile ago... can't think of others, but it feels like a lot more. i think whitaker is my only successful student. :-)
working on some LJ stuff now in the little time I have between interruptions.
need more iced tea!
I own the rights to PicoPimp[tm]. I've always been too lazy to learn a useful editor like vi or emacs ;)

In the Support FAQ, is there any reference to how one can make a link in html? We get new support requests at least once a day asking "How can I make it so you click on a name and it takes you to their website?" Just curious... *thumps people with no basic html understanding over their heads*

Pico forever, man!
Aside: You allow the deprecated <xmp>, the lame <marquee>, the nasty <font> (but thankfully not <blink>), but you don't allow <span> and <kbd>! The latter of the two I'd have used for the Ctrl+O, enter above! Damn, I'm a meaningful markup junkie! :)
Which clients support ctrl -0 ?
Control chars aren't intuitive for many people. We gotta add right-click support for PC's next rev...
He's talking about pico.
In pico you can save by hitting control-O.
Getting my ctrl -M's and ctrl - O's confused.

i thought i'd comment here for you as well, my father was the head universe guy for informix software until recently. he quit about a month ago to start his own universe hosting company (nt based) in the chicago area (freeport i believe).
he told me he's looking to find and hire some new/young talent to help run the place, and looking to pay about 50-60K or higher depending on talent and exp.
i thought you would know someone, or some of the people working with LJ might be in that area and would be interested. i'd be more than happy to help hook someone up with a job like this.
if anyone is interested have them email me and i will get them in touch with my father...
they have about 1.5 mil in persective clients right now, and hope to be up and running with this by summer (they are still working out contracts, but they have the office and servers right now)
Hmm.... I don't know anybody in that area, unfortunately.

this is sorta of a general comment that's actually just starting to bug me, but how much longer am i going to have to see this:
Feb. 24th: The directory is still down. We've traced down a major problem we've been having to the directory code.... it turns out that our code is fine, but the database crashes on certain queries which the directory does. Until we trace it down, the directory will stay down so the rest of the site will stay up. If all else fails, we'll setup a separate instance database to run just the directory. This will likely be resolved the weekend of March 2nd-4th, if not before.
just curious. ;-)

Thanks for being my personal mentor. :-)
Teacher, teacher. You need to tell me how to use emacs or vi (whichever is better) soon... I find myself taking hours to do stuff that I bet a good editor would do for me.
Pico's cool for a month, but then it just gets old.

Brad! (Either/Or) Be my mentor. I installed Linux, yet I just never use it. It is taking up space. I wish I used it more, but I just don't know jack about it. TEACH ME TOO!
