Freon leak ... again? [May. 2nd, 2001|10:36 pm]
Brad Fitzpatrick
A long time ago there was a freon leak in our house and I got really sick for about a month: I had a stroke, had to go the emergency room in an ambulance, had to give myself blood thinner injections for weeks, doctors couldn't figure out what was up... it sucked. Took a month until my mom realized what it was, when we turned on our air conditioner and it didn't work. Turns out I'd been sitting in my room with the door closed programming for hours and hours at a time, and freon was leaking into my room. It's heavier than air and odorless... so I wasn't getting enough oxygen.

Well ....... I think my old refrigerator's been leaking freon now. For the past several days I've been really light-headed and dizzy. I attributed it to lack of sleep. Today I've been having really prickly skin (hyperalgesia). Kenji or Chuck (I forget who) mentioned the fridge that's sitting down here.

We haven't used it since we moved it to this house.
We roughed it around a bunch moving it out of the old place and into the new place.
There's a bunch of weird loose metal tubing on the back that could be easily bumped.
There are no windows or means of ventilation downstairs.
Freon is heavier than air.
I've been spending a shitload of time downstairs programming the last few days.

So ... given all this, I assume the fridge has been filling the room up with freon and I've been breathing it in.

Maybe I'm imaginging things, but this would certainly explain my recent dizziness, light-headedness, and hyperalgesia.

I moved the fridge outside.
