Mine shipped from Nashville too, but it only had like a 6 hour drive to traverse. Woohoo!

all of 'em? You sure? I have all sorts of packages that originate in-state and never go outside the state according to their tracking. Then again...they *do* take their sweet time with some packages...

Re:

I'm fairly sure. I mean it seems stupid to think that if I ship something from 42nd St to 57th St in NY city that it should go through Nashville, but I guess that's how they do things quickly...

Good idea.

I had a girlfriend for a year named Julie, though, so Blythe may not like that name. :)

Computer names

You know you cant name a computer until after you meet it. You have to observe its personality before you can properly name it. Its the rule.

Comp. names in my house:

P3 500: Tanzor-Z (Grand Mazinger-Z in Japan)

P3 450: Fyvush (after character actor Finkle)

AMD 750: Magnus (Master of Magnestism- deceased)

Re: Computer names

Heh, I have two IP addresses (and thus names) allocated to boxes that aren't even built yet... kumquat and kahuna :)

Or how about Mavis?
Or HAL(-9000 ... if you're a sci-fi buff, you'd understand the reference)?

Hmm...
How's about moof?
orbit, orion, galaxy, neptune, sirius...they're good names...

Zone transfer 100.161.10.in-addr.arpa@ickle.ma (10.161.100.6) ...
1.100.161.10.in-addr.arpa PTR nurgled.ma
2.100.161.10.in-addr.arpa PTR sortit.ma
3.100.161.10.in-addr.arpa PTR nigglenoo.ma
4.100.161.10.in-addr.arpa PTR mena.ma
5.100.161.10.in-addr.arpa PTR driftwood.ma
6.100.161.10.in-addr.arpa PTR ickle.ma
7.100.161.10.in-addr.arpa PTR kahuna.ma
8.100.161.10.in-addr.arpa PTR kumquat.ma
9.100.161.10.in-addr.arpa PTR mrmackey.ma
10.100.161.10.in-addr.arpa PTR panic.ma
254.100.161.10.in-addr.arpa PTR tasty.ma

Maybe my odd names will give you some inspiration! Okay, probably not... but AXFRs are cool, anyway.

Yeah, I know .ma is the country code domain of Morocco, but since I will never need to access anything in Morocco, it doesn't seem to bother me all that much.

Hmm

Hmm.. well, if you choose to continue with the southpark theme, I would suggest "starvinmarvin", cause laptops are skinny compared to other computers ;)

PS: I think you should call the BIG/IP "chef", for similar reasons

My laptop's name is C3PO, 3PO for short of course... goes along with my visor, R2. :)

There's plenty of droids to use for names in the SW universe, but doubt you're as much a SW fan as I am... but it's a suggestion. Or you could go with Jedi Masters... :)

Congrats and welcome to the portable world-- I wouldn't trade being able to take 3PO with me anywhere for the world. Okay- maybe for the world but you know what I mean...

i just got Hal-8000 back from their repair center today. don't name your computer after any malfunctioning computer. ever. period. Hal had been having issues of finding his DVD-rom...now he has issues with moving beyond flashing his drive light and his power light at me before turning back off 2 seconds later. stupid Hal...

My puter's (desktop) name is Alexei Vera Anthony; my friend's laptop is Malibu Dessalines Christ. I agree with the earlier comment that you cannot possibly bestow a fitting name on a puter before you meet him/her and get to know one another a little. If you have a theme (as I know you do for the LJ/DJ boxes) I would recommend continuing the theme; but if your laptop is intended for a different purpose, then you should most def deviate from the aforementioned theme. Also, if the initials of your puter's name spells another word/acronym/abbreviation, its good luck. ;^)
