drove to school.
rocked math midterm.
nice weather, walked around.
went to german... very relaxed and fun.
went to internap to reboot a server i screwed.
hung out with german buddy, watching spaceballs and drinkin'.
fixed some random LJ stuff.
working on LJ stuff.
listening to music.
talking on AIM.

Remote rebooting

APC masterswitches are great for remotely rebooting (well, power cycling) equipment.

Do you have serial consoles on all the machines at Internap? They're pretty useful for getting into a machine if you stuff the networking or need to get the machine up in single user mode. We connect all our machines to a Livingston Portmaster 2e30 which allows us to do this:


$ telnet pmserver 6001 # connect to serial port 1
$ telnet pmserver 6002 # connect to serial port 2


etc etc. We can also telnet into the PM then attach to a serial port. We also have our Cisco routers/switches connected to this, as well as a modem so we can get to our stuff even if the network is down.
