yay for wireless [Jan. 15th, 2002|11:39 am]

what do you do when you only have a modem connection at home still and a 4 hour break between two classes?

go to the CS department with your laptop and apt-get dist-upgrade and listen to mp3s really loud so you don't have to listen to people talking about CS stuff!

hooray!

Heh, funny. I was doing/thinking the same thing (minus the modem) when I read that.

Streaming mp3s from my desktop in the dorm... hackin'. Wireless ownz my soul.

I used to play BSD Empire in the CS lab on the Sequent box. Mind you, this was back when VT100 green screens was the norm and MP3 wasn't even concieved of (1989-1993).

Tchah, kids these days.

These days you can't even lay your hands on a green screen. Those VT102s had the best keyboards known to man.

Wish I'd known there was a demand for them. About 2.5 years ago the company I was working for threw out about 400 VT102s and VT220s.

I have many happy memories of using those terminals. Spending the entire weekend int he CS lab playing Empire and LPMUD on a pair of screens whilst reading mail and USENET on another. Ah the pleasures of attacking someones character in LPMUD whilst a friend talks to them in a chatroom as cover for the fact that you're wiping out their country in Empire. It's a wonder I ever graduated.
