Last month I went on vacation. I went alone to Alaska. I took with me my warmest clothes and my strongest tent. I slept with an Eskimo. We was not so cuddly as my girlfriend. But.. I have no girlfriend. So he was the cuddliest! Whenever I woke up I played with polar bears. When I punched a polar bear, all the polar bears became unhappy. They tried to eat me but I killed them all with my switchblade. In the evening we were very hungry and ate two polar bears. They tasted good to us, better than McDonalds number seven. Amazing! When I had to return, I was sad. My Eskimo friend was also sad, but not because I left, but because we had killed all the animals. Now he has no good food and must eat snow.
You're welcome. :-)

Pleae do not kill a Polar Bear...they are adorable, and, more to the point, they are in damned short supply. Also, we do not want you to end up as dinner for vengeful polar bears, nor do we want to see your head as a trophy hanging on a wall of a polar bear lair (cave, whatever). (ick!) :)

They're poisonous? Like, red frogs? I've never heard of them being poisonous. How weird.

And you're right about the destroy/kill part. :)

(Man, I've forgotten all of this already...)

Isn't the first-person singular form of machen simply "machte"?

Adjective ending on wärmst?

Maybe use "sondern" on the penultimate (heh) sentence?

I would say you're right. I'm also considering correcting all the mistakes in the text, but then Brad might beat me up when he comes to Germany. ;)

You translated this perfectly to English.

What really hurts in the German text is "laßte". "to leave" is "verlassen" in that context or "weggehen". So it would be, "... nicht weil ich wegging, (sondern)..."

Otherwise, I would say the text is totally sweet.

Hmmm, thats interesting. I see you have a competely accurate dipiction of Alaska. I wrote my assignment on going to LA.
Growing up I'd eat polar bears all the time, I can assure you.

darn! i was being sarcastic/joking too! thats the problem with typing things instead of talking - you cant tell what tone of voice the person is using. i wonder if peoples journals ever get confused in this way. usually im just about the first one to make fun of alaska. and especially that poetry-throwin'-yodellin'bimbo bitch Jewel.
Hmmmm, I wonder if it's easy to intepret what tone of voice i was using there....
