Shotgun man [May. 22nd, 2002|03:34 pm]
Brad Fitzpatrick
Driving back from the bank, I passed by a hill near my old neighborhood where I lived from age 4 to 11. The hill's really steep with a barbed-wire fence in front of it, power lines going up it, and you can't see over the crest. I saw it and thought, "Oh, the steep hill with the guy at the top sitting in a lawnchair with a shotgun shooting snakes."

And then I realized ... wait, that was just a childhood legend. But for a few seconds today I believed it, until I realized how silly it was.

In other news, I got pre-approved for a house loan at the top end of my target purchase cost. Leaving, he said, "Oh, and bring that letter back if you need it revised." Revised? For when I show it to sellers ... I can say, "But I'm only approved for $x ... would that work?" Can't bargain as well if they know you're good for more. Rad. Love how the world works sometimes.

So now I just need to find a house. There's a sign at the bank that says, "Getting the mortage is the easy part." Heh.

In final news, BV3K still rocks.

Think it's time for my siesta.

Unless you find a new or newly remodeled house, make sure you budget 5-10% of the purchase price for repairs and renovations. Plumbing, HVAC, and flooring can add up really fast.
