Brad Fitzpatrick
I was reading some product history on the side of its box and I noticed that all the quotes were replaced with "I" characters with either graves or hats. And instantly I knew that somebody with Microsoft Word typed the paragraph, Word smart-quoted it, sent it to somebody else, and the CP1252 encoding got changed to ISO-8859-1 along the way. Disappointing that nobody noticed, given that it occurred 4 or 5 times. But it was made in China... maybe they can't read it.

I ordered a flat-screen monitor. It'll be here in a few days. Planar CT1904N. Way bigger and more kick-ass than I need, but given that I do nothing but stare at the computer, it'll be worth it. Now I just need the silent case.

I used to have a dozen mice but now I can't find one. Windows hides the mouse cursor if no mouse is logged in, so I can't use x2vnc to it without a mouse. It's kinda neat actually... plug in USB mouse, cursor shows, remove mouse, cursor hides. (But I can still use x2vnc... just not easily....) There's probably a Windows option to keep it on, but hell if I could find it.

Working on my new website is a joy ... so easy, having so much past knowledge and code to work off of. I'll be able to avoid a few dozen huge architectural mistakes that I made in the past on LiveJournal. (and I said the same thing about LiveJournal after making FreeVote....)

Meeting with my realtor on Thursday to look at houses. Can't wait to own a home.

mouse problem

For your mouse problem try turning on MouseKeys under ControlPanel -> Accessibility

Hello,

I have been elected as a representative of the English Language. It seems you are confused about the proper use of apostrophes. Allow me to enlighten you.

The apostrophe (or "'") is used for two main purposes: 1) to show possession, as in, "the neighbor's car" or "Tonya's struedel" or "The Enterprise's Photon Torpedo Tube"; 2) to indicate a contraction, i.e., a word comprised of two separate words combined in a way that letters from the original word are left out, such as "aren't" for "are not" or "they're" for "they are".

Please note that your use of the apostrophe in your comment does not fit either situation. It is a simple plural which neither needs, nor desires an apostrophe.

In addition, it is customary to begin sentences with a capital letter.

Also note that one can not "drop" an intangible object, such as e-mail, so the final phrase is non-sensical.

I have posted a corrected version of your comment below:

"If you need to bounce ideas off of someone, please e-mail me."

Grammar Boy indeed.

If you wish to be consistent then I would point out one can "bounce" intangible objects about as easily as one can "drop" them which then renders your correction wrong.

I realize this comment was a million years ago; however, "of" should never follow "off". A corrected version of your correction is posted below:

"If you need to bounce ideas off someone, please email me."

I'm not implying that my grammar is flawless, I'm only saying that you are incorrect.

Oh sure, go and have good reasons. That's a pretty cheap tactic, man.

Re: Hey have you heard this yet?

geocities2002

Imagine 'neighborhoods' and 'house numbers' where you can have your very own website! Sure this idea was originally adopted in '95... but now you can jump on board today.
