flat tire [Jul. 17th, 2002|06:56 pm]
Brad Fitzpatrick

I went to go on my almost-daily bike ride, but my tire is flat.

I imagine that this has something to do with off-roading with my not-mountain-bike yesterday?

(I got a "hybrid" after my mountain bike was stolen 1.5 times. That worked well when I was biking to school, but I still want a mountain bike...)

Anyway, need to get a bike pump now.

I'm sure this question will be asked of you a lot, but how did you get your bike stolen .5 times?

Half the parts were stripped. I spent almost as much as a new bike getting new parts & service to rebuild it.

Cheer up Bradley
Give me a smile
What happened to that smile I used to know?

Come on, Bradly
No need to frown
Deep down you know the world is still your toy
When the world gets heavy
Never pit-a-pat 'em
Up and at 'em, boy
You'll get a good bike one day.

i love leaving my crap car unlocked at work and hearing how the 7-series beemer I parked next to got stolen. It's grand theft auto in both cases, they might as *well* go for the better prey :)

Next time you are near a bike shop, buy a bottle of tire slime. You can put it inside your inner tube and it will keep you from getting flat tires by automatically filling the puncture before the tire can go flat.

I almost never have a flat tire, but when I do it is almost invariably after going off-road.

Hardcore offroad or a little offroad? :-)

I have a Trek hybrid I ride around the city and sometimes offroad a bit, but mainly in parks and crap. Hrm.

I have a mountain bike -- an ICS 2.0, but I don't go off road a lot that much. Austin is criss-crossed with green belts and most of them now have trails. They range from fairly developed paved trails to some very rough paths.

I am glad to have a mountain bike because we have some tall hills here and often getting around safely means riding on some strange terrain (for example, it is impossible to safely cross the river into South Austin by bike without going off-road.
