Time to genetically modify apes [Feb. 17th, 2003|09:37 am]
Brad Fitzpatrick
'Genetic changes' triggered Man's artistic abilities
[...] Persuasive evidence in support of this theory has emerged recently in the shape of FOXP2, the first gene proved to affect the ability to learn and process language. [...]
You know what this means, right?! It's time to start genetically modifying animals and giving them our corrected gene! Talking monkeys! Yes yes! And talking kangaroos, of course. Shitty movies could lower their CG expenses, using instead real talking kangaroos.

Just wait until Disney incorporates this into their theme parks. A Thousand Acre Forest with Winnie The Pooh characters who really believe they are those characters. Talking rats wearing gloves, ducks that are just as angry and bitter as Donald ever was. It'll be like Who Framed Roger Rabbit, only with animals instead of cartoons.

The interesting thing to find out is how tweaking that gene would effect humans. Could we be more than we are? Have we been regressing on a whole while a meager few of us have continued to advance? This brings about more questions than I think it answers.
