international calling [Jul. 28th, 2003|02:41 am]
Brad Fitzpatrick
With 5 cents/minute international calling, I can now call calliste in Germany, or avva in Israel without even caring about the cost.

I just tried calliste but her roommate said she's still sleeping (at 11:30 am!). Sie ist total faul.

I want to hear Avva's English, now that he's warned me it's not as good as his written English (which is perfect, and better than mine) but he's off to bed, as am I.

Small world, etc, etc.

That sounds like an amazing deal... is that to all over the world, or is it only to certain countries? I have some friends in spain, I'd love to call them.

Is there a website for the company?

Thanks :)

You'll need a voice-over-IP phone and a decent Internet connection to use it. The call goes over the Internet to the company who run it and then they translate onto the real telephone system.

Brad uses Vonage.

we have this 900-equivalent prefix for international calling one can use here to go over a less expensive service that i think is about 3.4 euro cents per minute to the states (it tells me everytime i use it, but i forget now -- but get it to use whenever you are over here again, if you don't already have it). it literally costs us more to call people elsewhere in germany than across the ocean. this world is funny.

Oh neat! Did you have to sign up for it or can anybody use it? If the latter is the case, would you mind sharing the information with me?
