cygwin freaks me out

I now have vmware running on my office computer, complete with cygwin and sshd, so I can ssh in to Windows now from home or anywhere else. And I installed the .NET SDK, of course, so I can compile things remotely....

Now I can head back home. (my old win2k CD was here at the office...)

$ which wget
/usr/bin/wget

$ wget --version | head -1

Um, /usr/bin/wget doesn't exist, according to the ls above. I don't know what magic cygwin does to provide a Linux feel, but it freaks me out.
