Stranded [Jan. 8th, 2004|01:26 pm]
Brad Fitzpatrick
I'm officially sick of being stuck in my house. I tried to get out the driveway, just for fun, but didn't make it. The roads look almost slushy now so it might be possible now that I've shoveled my driveway, but I don't know if it's worth risking it. Last thing I'd want is to get to the office and get stuck there. Not like anybody is at the office anyway.

bleh.

The girlfriend left, though. She has 4-wheel-drive. She'd been stuck here the past 3 days too.

We were in Portland, well, Troutdale when all the snow started, I can only imagine what it's like over there now.

Here's wishing you warm breezes...

Three days snowbound together and you're still speaking to each other? Now that's true love :)

I know where you're coming from. I've been stuck in my apartment for the last three days. I ventured out on to my street yesterday (nw 23rd) and NOTHING was open. Only Zupans! I was forced to by overpriced cheese to survive.

It looks like today will be the end of it though.

Oh and more than 500 flights were cancelled at PDX! That's insane.

Did I miss something? How did you get house-bound?

It looks like only a half-hour walk to the MAX, why not do that?

Uh, the snow/ice didn't treat me that well either.

while we are suggesting ways to escape your house...

the coolest thing i saw on my 2 hour trip from u district to cap hill on tuesday was a man cross country skiing down the middle of broadway while cars were sliding to their stop on the sides of the streets.

try that?

not sure i'd want to leave if i had a hot tub, and booze. but that is just me.

:)

We were living in Cincinnati in the late 70s and one winter there was a terrible blizzard and the Mayor ordered all cars off the streets. Two of the attorneys who worked with my husband at the law firm HAD to get to court (which was still open) so they skied down one of the steepest of Cincinnati's Seven Hills to get to Court. Later that evening, they skied downhill again in tuxedos to the law firm's formal dinner dance at the Queen City Club. It made for a good story and it wa hilarious watching the Maitre'D helping them strap their skis on before we all left to go home!
