Tribe.net spam [Jan. 15th, 2004|04:39 pm]
Brad Fitzpatrick
Tribe.net is so pathetic they're resorting to spamming to try and get users?

**points and laughs at the pathetic social networking site**

Never used it. But they bought some ridiculous patent for $700k too, and that's pretty fucking pathetic. Between that and spamming, that's a site I wouldn't want to get near. They're obviously out for money, not fun.

Could be.

I know nothing of sendmail, so I'm not sure if 8.8.8 is good or bad.

They also got coverage on TechTV today.

Pretty generic 30 second blurb, but one hell of a sound bite. "I got a six figure job in the Caribbean through tribes.com."

I'm down for that action :D

I dont remember the specifics- but I remember reading the real story of the friendster/tribe/uhmcantremember split- founders with different ideas- and i came away from it with a feeling of "jesus, so young an industry, and so soon fucked up- im glad im not a part"

but yeah- independant workin- from thailand maybe- shit- i light up

Not sure if you're being sarcastic or you're agreeing.

My position is that everything about them reeks of "we want to make a lot of money" which doesn't parallel well with "we're a happy little social site for you!".
