T610, Debian, GPRS, Bluetooth, ....

My current project is to get my new phone (SonyEricsson T610) acting as a modem for my TiBook, with a Bluetooth USB adapter. Then I'll have net access wherever I go. Notably for all my travelling this month.

It looks like Bluetooth support in Linux is pretty mature (relative to what I was fearing) and my google searches lead me immediately to things like:

T610 Debian GPRS Howto

So I think this'll be pretty easy.

The immediate challenge is upgrading my laptop from Linux 2.4 to 2.6, where all the latest Bluetooth stuff is integrated. My big concern is I see mentions of a benh kernel for 2.6 (the guy who used to maintain the good PPC tree for 2.4) but I can't seem to find it.

I guess I'll try vanilla 2.6.3-rc1 and hope it works. Rumor has it Linus has a G5 now so he's taking a lot more PPC patches? Saw a reference to that on a mailing list at least.
