coffee shop paedophile [Mar. 3rd, 2004|12:25 am]
Brad Fitzpatrick
Apparently my favorite Portland coffee shop and Wifi access point is closed because the owner got arrested for molesting children?

http://www.livejournal.com/community/damnportlanders/2139880.html

Damnit. Stop molesting children and let me drink coffee until 2am with internet access.

I'll leave crazy shit like that up to jwz.

Of course, a coffee shop wouldn't have to worry about liquor licenses or noise stuff (as much)....

Looks like there are some people (from your original post) who are willing to do the heavy lifting, and you could front the cash. Presumably, it was a viable business in the first place, or he wouldn't've been moving it.(to a better spot?) Ignoring his personal problems, of course.

Just like the commercials, it wouldn't necessarily be a primary business operation, but there would be nice ancillary benefits to having a LiveJournal-branded Internet cafe.

Yeah that sucks. Heaven was my first "place" in Portland. When I moved here I spent many a night surfing around and eating cheesecake.

I had heard rumors about the owner, Mike, from a few friends... actualy many, many, many gay friends. I never knew how seriously to take them.

No way! I was just bragging - this very evening - about how "I don't need to go to Pioneer Square Starbucks to get free wifi! I go to Heaven." And I even told them to GO THERE TOMMOROW and check it out. Oops.

Um...obvioulsy, I haven't been there recently, btw.

Man, wtf? This excellent sushi/tea/drinks place in Austin closed down recently because the employees found the camera that the owner had hidden in the women's restroom: http://pineapple-girl.com/pango-camera.htm

I went there a lot when I lived in Austin! Someone please go back in time and show this perv how to type "peeing chicks" into google.

o.O

Oh shit.... I know the owner from when I was living in Portland and working at raves, etc. Him and all the people who ran it with him were friends of mine.

He was a dirty old man now that I think about it.

I had no idea Heaven even lasted longer than a few months. They had moved locations a couple times while I was still living down there.

*laugh*
