Actually one of the machines is slated for death (or rather reassignment) once the new home server is setup.
New home server is:
-- 2GB RAM (4 x 512MB DDR400)
-- Hyperthreading Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.20GHz
-- 1 x 40GB PATA disk
-- 2 x 250GB SATA disks
-- gigabit ethernet
-- DVD burner (backups)
-- made by wonderful silicon mechanics
Perhaps overkill, but computers are cheap, and my old one totally sucked.
Oh, and its name: "Sammy" because:
-- first machine I've had with SATA disks (the "Sa" in Sammy)
-- parallels the server's name it's replacing ("tally") in vowels/consonants/length
-- I like the Sammy's Scramble at Reedville Cafe down the road. Mmmm.
-- made by "Silicon Mechanics".... SM. Sammy.
