day in review

-- built new windows computer ("pepper") ... it's a p3-800 mhz w/ 133 mhz fsb, 256mb ram, 7600 rpm 15 gig drive (enough for win2k, office, visual studio, and 10.7 gig to spare), 100 mbit ethernet card (always), and that's about it. extremely basic and cheap machine ... parts were about $1,000.
-- took exising windows machine ("dozer") apart and swapped out video cards with the new one i bought. (bought a voodoo 3000 (cheap) to go into the living room linux box, so i had to move my old voodoo 3500 TV from dozer to pepper.)
-- i then copied all my files over from dozer to pepper (not many, most my files i keep on my linux box)
-- i then reformatted dozer and installed linux... dozer is now "songx0r" (thanks to erik for the name)
-- songx0r is now in the living room, with an irman remote control receiver hooked up to it, being the living room mp3 appliance, hooked into the stereo and TV (but I can't figure out how to get the voodoo 3000's TV out to work under linux... need to go find documentation)

blythe was over on and off most the day as well. a bunch of us went to red robin's for dinner. i did my chore (vacuuming the basement and stairs) and other people all did theirs too (else we have to pay a $5 penalty... good incentive to spend 10-15 minutes doing our solitary weekly chore)

tomorrow i have more computer stuff to attend to:
-- need to put my new 60gb harddrive in my linux box.
-- need to fix songx0r's broken network cable running from the kitchen to the living room

anyway, now i sleep... class hell day tomorrow. no fun. night.
