so much to learn

still messing around with debian.
there's so much left for me to install and learn.
i'm enjoying it.

brendan (mobley) is in town... we're going out to dinner in a half hour or so.

i'm posting this from loserjabber 2.0.0 --- the latest that was in the debian tree. pathetic. :-P
Trippy, tired, Tired

going to bed.

got some work done.... setup my computer more, and fixed some livejournal stuff. didn't get anything done on my paper.... way too tired for that. i'll do that tomorrow afternoon.

one of my teeth is hurting.... not good. cavity? :-( damnit. which reminds me, i'm overdue for a dentist appointment. i'm also 500 miles overdue on my car's 15,000 mile checkup.... that stupid light flashes at me whenever i start it up.

yeah, sleep. damn i'm tired.

big day

Feels like I've been awake forever.... this weekend has be incredibly productive. I built my computer yesterday, cleaned my room, learned a lot about Debian (a lot more to go). Today I went to the hardware store and bought 800 pounds of brick tiles to rise my bed up 15 inches. I had to distribute the weight all over my car so I didn't drag.... pushing that cart around was a bitch, especially because I parked at the top of the parking lot, and there was a slight slant to it. Anyway, now my bed is up high, and I have tons of stuff underneith it. I also bought some stepping stones for the back "yard". We used to have grass there, but it's all mud now, and I hate tracking it in when I walk in from parking my car.

Going to work on my geography paper now.... I have a rough outline written, but I suspect the paper will be pretty much BS. Here we go!

I've been working on my geography paper for the past hour or so. It's been so long since I've used Microsoft Word... I hate it so much. Some parts are very nice, but there are enough stupid little things about it that it's just aggravating to use. Every release of Word since version 2.0 has gone downhill, in my opinion. Word now tries to do so much for you that you spend more time telling it to fuck off than you do working on your content. Turning off the AutoFormat while typing stuff helps a lot, but it's still annoying. I took me over 10 minutes to find out how to turn off the "Personalized Menus".

Worse, I hate using Microsoft-style keybindings... I'm so used to emacs/readline bindings. Search backwards: Control-R. Oh, shit.... i just right-justified the paragraph.

I tried to learn LaTeX once, but gave up after a few days of messing around. I got it to produce output and everything, but now I've forgotten it all. I should go learn again.

I'm stalling.... I should go back to my paper. (I get off task easily when I'm working on boring homework. I'm doing my laundry now, and I cleaned my room some more.... heh)
