math math math

I did so much math tonight. (well, more than usual.) I'm surrounded in drawings & notecards and my good ol' trusty TI-85 calculator.

In the end, the solution turned out shorter, clearer, and more accurate than I was expecting, so I'm incredibly happy.

Yay for math.

In the background, I was doing LJ sysadmin stuff. No yays for that. But in time, Alan will learn the requisite black magic and rid me from this curse.

In other news, I've been watching so much Tivo that I'm out of stuff to watch. Dare I start watching new shows? No! Must resist.

CPU fan driving me crazy

My CPU fan has developed a high-pitch whining noise.

It's been annoying me but I didn't realize how bad it was until my ears were ringing the other night lying in bed. Not good.

I've been doing a lot of silent-PC research and have been comparing the cost of upgrading my current machine to silent parts versus just building a new silent system.... it's close enough that I'm just going to build a new machine.

But, I'm not going to start until I'm back from Vegas, so for the next couple days I just have to suffer. And today it seems louder than ever.

I guess I'll switch to the laptop for awhile, which involves installing everything on it again. (it's stock OS X... without any development stuff. bleh.)
