internet --- kinda

I now have Internet access from the water heater closet in the garage.... nowhere else. (where I'm posting this now, on the cold floor)

Every room is totally wired, but the wires end in uncapped raw ends, so David's here to help me finish up the wiring.

123" desktop

David and I just got all the Ethernet in the house wired up, some of the speakers, and I got the modelines for my new projector (Panasonic PT-AE900U) setup.

I'm blogging this from a 123" display, at 1280x720 (HDTV, 16:9) ... 5' tall, 9' wide.

yes.

I could totally hack on this shit. We could even subdivide the display and have hacking parties.

How can I get the frickin' coax (SPDIF?) digital audio cable (RCA) to output sound? I have it going into my receiver, but nothing. The receiver's fine... works with my DVD player. Maybe it's the wrong type? DVD player says "Coax digital audio out" or something. Receiver says "Coax.". There's also another digital RCA input on the receiver labeled "Dolby AC-3" or something, but it doesn't work either.

I'm using ALSA.
