It's "WHOM do you trust?" damn it! WHOM WHOM WHOM!

Seriously, it's not that hard. Just ask yourself whether "I trust him" or "I trust he." If you trust him, then it's "whom." If you trust he, then you're just a moron :)

The problem is that even those who know the correct usage are often reluctant to use it for fear of looking of stodgy, using a word that's increasingly falling out of use.

I certainly understand someone avoiding a cumbersome question like: "Out with whom did you go last night?" But, when it's really simple like this, I don't think that "whom" looks out-of-place.

As a side note, according to a Golin/Harris trust survey, 69 percent of Americans say "I don't know whom to trust." Hahaha. I bet not even 1% of Americans have ever said "I don't know whom to trust."
