Ice cream or pretzels? [Sep. 28th, 2004|08:19 am]

Ice cream or pretzels? Ice cream or pretzels? What's it going to be?

The folks at Comedy Central were annoyed when Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly kept referring to "The Daily Show" audience as "stoned slackers."

So they did a little research. And guess whose audience is more educated?

When I was a regularly stoned slacker, I would've loved a flavor of Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream that incorporates not only pretzels but also chocolate and peanut butter: http://www.benjerry.com/our_products/flavor_details.cfm?product_id=26 Unfortunately, it wasn't invented until I began working 50 hours a week for a large multinational corporation. Thank goodness that Ben (Cohen) is pumping much of his munchies fortune into a good cause: http://www.truemajority.org/actionregister/toolkit_html.cfm

Yes, but the company that now owns Ben and Jerry's, Unilever, isn't perfect.

Yeah. That's a pity. I liked them better before that big acquisition.

Bill O'Reilly just attacks his guests to try to stir up controversy for ratings. He stinks. Jon Stewart should have broken out one of his Emmy's during the interview.

I agree about O'Reilly, but an Emmy isn't proof of anything.

Viewers of Jon Stewart's show are more likely to have completed four years of college than people who watch "The O'Reilly Factor," according to Nielsen Media Research.
Doesn't mean they're not stoned!

:)

It also doesn't mean they aren't slackers. But it is an interesting bit of research. Now we need to research and find out which group is getting enough fiber. :D

Actually, this is not surprising. O'Reilly claims to represent the "blue collar" contingent and expressly aims his show at "regular folks" who have no or some college education. On the other hand, you would expect more educated folks to be on the more liberal end of the spectrum, and while Stewart is not expressly liberal, his take on things invite that sort of crowd. I personally watch both shows, usually trashed, but never stoned!

John is FUNNY, Bill is serious. Smart, stupid, educated, uneducated- which would you rather watch stoned?
