Well poo, now I have an extra HDTV card for linux.. :)
Rock! I honestly thought that the EFF et al were going to lose this one, I'm so glad they didn't...
Well, I wouldn't say that it's dead yet, but severely wounded. The Supreme Court could always go the other way (but I doubt they'll get around to that any time soon), and Congress could intervene (but again, probably not before the July 1st deadline).
wow... I Was completely unaware that fight was going on.
This is a good thing, no doubt, but it's far from the end. I'd say Orrin Hatch will have a BF-like bill in circulation within a month. And the bill will argue that since manufacturers have already been working on updating their cards to meet the July 1 deadline, that same deadline should remain. Then I'll go cry in the corner.
OTOH, maybe now the FCC won't try as hard to regulate washing machines. And other non-RF transmission-based devices.

Those damn smarmy judges. Who do they think they are telling our government how to run my life?
God damn fucking hallelujah happy dance!
I love Corys use of "neener neener neener".
That is pretty damn good news. I'm looking forward to legally decoding HDTV with cheap software radio in the future :D
Oh goody, now we get to have another round of rhetoric about "activist judges" and a nice ceremonial bill signing in the Rose Garden.
Well, I assume they'll fly under the radar instead, but still.
Good result but it's just in a coma and it'll probably reappear via Congress.
