Remains of old ship discovered at SF construction site
I biked by this last night... crazy.
Ohh. Thanks for reminding me. I have the sudden need to go visit our cage...
Isn't that cool?! I've heard about a couple of these being found during big building digs. The waterfront used to be anywhere from a few to a dozen blocks more inland than it is now. Back in the Gold Rush days, the ships would be packed in like crazy and, if one was a POS, they'd sometimes intentionally sink it to help extend the wharf's out into the bay...
Apparently, a while back, they found another ship and the hold still had intact cargo, like cases of French champagne, 100+ years old.
That's something you don't see every day ....
I bet aliens buried that ship. A la War of the Worlds.
Where is it exactly ? On Folsom and what ? Pretty cool...
Folsom between Main and Spear.
Great, thanks ! I need to go see if I can snap a few pictures.
Wow that's so cool and creepy!

You know the businessman in charge of the project is now screaming and having to explain to his investors why they're going to be two months behind schedule... awesome.
I think that's awesome. I remember watching a documentary on the Discovery channel about the pyramids in Egypt and there was a part about ruins in Cairo being found in much the same manner as this ship (in the middle of the city).
That's right next to our new colo, the site is for huge apartment towers which will have fiber connectivity...*drool*
