how to get rid of stuff [Sep. 21st, 2005|01:16 pm]

Things I type on a daily basis to get rid of stuff I'm looking at:

alt-f4
alt-[space] c
ctl-w
ctl-q
ctl-d
c-x 0
c-x k [enter]
:q
:q!
C-a K y

I'm probably forgetting some, but I just typed the majority of those in the past couple minutes, inspiring this post.

*yawn*

Ctrl+F4 (windows: close window in multi-document interface)
bye (windows ftp.exe)
quit (windows ftp.exe but not cmd.exe)
exit (windows cmd.exe but not ftp.exe) (looks like windows can't decide how to exit something)
kill -9 foo (linux; windows version is "kill foo" or "kill -f foo")

Does Alt+n (windows: minimise window) count as well?

"by" is enough.

You owe the Oracle one keystroke.

Oh, how about Ctrl+Alt+Del? If that fails, there's always the BRS or local equivalent.

On another note, what's alt-[space] c?

window manager's way to get to menu options, then c is close. like alt-f4.
